Background

The 2nd IEEE International Conference on Human-Machine Systems, jointly organized by IEEE and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, is a major annual event in the field of human-machine systems and aims to promote both academic research and industrial development.

Brain-machine systems focus on information exchange and interaction between the human brain and external devices. Brain-computer interfaces can support applications such as exoskeleton control for motor rehabilitation after stroke or spinal cord injury. In parallel, electrical and electromagnetic stimulation methods are used to modulate brain networks, including non-invasive brain stimulation for depression and chronic pain, and deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease, depression, and epilepsy.

As a non-pharmacological approach to modulating brain function, brain-machine systems offer broad opportunities for neurological and psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. They also provide new perspectives for improving quality of life and advancing the scientific understanding of the human brain.
